Okay, let's do this thing!

Being in the investment industry, Chayce reminds me that returns necessarily involve some measure of risk, and it's finding that balance between the desired return and the risk tolerance that’s the hard part. I mean, where would we be if Mark Zuckerberg hadn’t dropped out of Harvard (Chayce would say we’d be a lot better off…yah, he can be a bit of a stinker). We weren’t exactly sure what it was going to look like but we knew we wanted to get started as quickly as possible. The first step was securing the funds and looking for the perfect first project. This proved to be a bit of a challenge because of our jobs, but we kept moving forward, little by little. Our home didn't reveal itself right away. And then, all of the sudden, there she was in all her glory! You know the saying it's what's on the inside that counts, well, this house’s insides looked like a scene from Breaking Bad. Chayce was ready to buy it after barely stepping in the front door (which was all rotted out, btw); if you know anything about Chayce, he’s more of the “act now, figure it out later” type. Like I said, he’s a bit of a stinker. Me on the other hand, I’m your typical skeptic, especially when it comes to shelling out a few hundred thousand dollars. I’d like to think we’re a good balance for each other. He pushes me forward and inspires me to leap into the unknown, and I beckon him back to reality before he’s emptied the bank accounts and sold the cat. Hopefully, the combination of both personalities keeps us from too much trouble. But just as I said in beginning, no great ideas are ever achieved without risk. Were we ready for this level of risk, though? Truth be told, we were too excited to flesh that question out, and before we knew it, we were the proud owners of the ugliest house on the block. It's like all those Disney movies we watched growing up—sometimes you have to just believe in yourself and jump! Or maybe we shouldn't be making financial decisions based off cartoons…
